"Sol & Arte" 2015 will begin on 26th July and end on 2 August. Participants will stay in Guimarães city center hostels and the workshops will happen at a school nearby.
It will be a multilateral youth exchange with Finland, Italy, Latvia, Romania, Estonia and Portugal organizations and is following the tracks of the art based "Drums for Peace" youth exchanges, aiming to also engage disadvantaged youth.
The fifty participants will, according to their own priorities, be actively involved in workshops such as dance, music and percussion streamlined by professional artists. Thus, the workshops also serve as a catalyst for intercultural and informal learning and explore the theme "Short Stories", linking the urban culture with local and national popular culture, bringing personal testimonials to the project. The exchange will involve some youngsters from Guimarães - especially those with fewer opportunities to work European citizenship and inclusion - with the cooperation of local authorities and social organizations. Project activities will last for seven days.
The theme "Short Stories" reflects the questions that all young people face today. Each participant may share a concern, a testimony or a question to the group, and use its contents using expressive techniques. The theme will be prepared in advance by the participants, worked in workshops and presented through a show, to the local community. This theme emerged from the follow-up of the last exchange, it was decided to deepen this issue. |
